THIBODAUX, Louisiana – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros men's tennis team kicks off a four-match road trip starting on Saturday against Nicholls State University at 12 p.m. at the Colonel Tennis Complex.
 
UTRGV will also visit New Orleans on Sunday at 2 p.m. and play a doubleheader against Alcorn State on Monday starting at 9 a.m.
 
Last Time Out

• UTRGV (3-6) defeated Lamar University 5-2 in a close match on Wednesday.
• UTRGV took the doubles point with Zane Kohrs and George Hutchings clinching it with a win at the No. 2 spot. 
• Alberto Mello won in straight sets 6-1, 6-4 over Joshua Taylor at No. 6 singles.
• Hutchings picked up the 6-2, 1-6, 6-3 win over Joshua Sundaram at No. 4 singles. 
• Kohrs clinched the win for UTRGV with a 6-4, 5-7, 6-4 win over Filippo Salsini at No. 5 singles. 
• Samuel de Felipe Garica closed it all out with a 7-6, 4-6, 6-4 win over Carlos Paton Canal at No. 2 singles.

• UTRGV is 8-7 all-time against Nicholls State in a series that dates back to 2005.
• Nicholls State won last year's match 4-3 at the Orville Cox Tennis Center.

• New Orleans is currently 5-2 on the season.
• Is coming off of a 6-1 win over Southern Miss and will face Mississippi College before facing UTRGV. 
• Has wins over Prairie View A&M, Jackson State, Jacksonville State, and Loyola (La.)
• New Orleans is 26-13 in singles play while posting a 10-6 record in doubles.
• Mats Westkamp leads the team with a 5-1 record in singles while playing at the No. 1 spot.
• Misha Fomenkov, Max Heinzel, and Johannes Klein each have four wins in singles.
• In doubles, Westkamp and Austin Vos are tied with Fomenkov and Klein with three wins to lead the team. 

 
Scouting Alcorn State

• Alcorn State is 2-11 on the season.
• Is coming off of a 1-4 loss to Alabama A&M on Feb. 23.
• Has wins against Mississippi Valley State and Florida A&M.
• Has already played two other doubleheaders this season.
• Alcorn State is 13-51 in singles play while posting a 4-23 record in doubles.
