RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced on Tuesday that, due to the Chicago State volleyball program delaying the start of its season, Monday and Tuesday's scheduled matches between UTRGV and Chicago State at the UTRGV Fieldhouse will not be played.
The matches are not currently set to be made up but could be if the two teams find themselves with a common off week in the future. Conference standings and seeding for the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Volleyball Tournament will be based on a formula that considers both winning percentage and the percentage of matches played.
UTRGV is currently exploring options for replacing the matches on the schedule.
UTRGV opens the season in Corpus Christi on Friday at 1:30 p.m. against UTSA before facing host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi as part of the South Texas Showdown, presented by Navy Army Community Credit Union, at 6:30.
At the end of the season, UTRGV volleyball season ticket holders will have the option to either donate the balance paid for canceled games that are not replaced or rescheduled to the V Club, receive a credit that is good for 2021 volleyball season tickets, or receive a refund.
Questions regarding tickets should be directed to the UTRGV Ticket Sales and Operations team of
Carlos Munoz and
Tiffany Ochoa at
tickets@utrgv.edu.
