RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) women's soccer team fell to the Stephen F. Austin 'Jacks 2-1 on Sunday at the UTRGV Soccer and Track & Field Complex.
Down 1-0 six minutes into the second half, the Vaqueros (5-8-1, 1-3-0 WAC) scored their lone goal when junior
Shentatious Knox cut to the top of the box, sent a cross to her right, and junior
Anna Torslov used her left foot to send the ball over the head of
Madeline Talbot (5-5-1) into the back left corner of the goal.
Torslov now has three goals and a team-high tying nine points. It was Knox's first assist, upping her point total to seven.
Talbot stopped the Vaqueros' other two shots on goal.
The 'Jacks (5-5-1, 3-0-0) attempted six shots on goal. Their first one led to a goal, a strike by
Laney Kimble in the 11
th minute.
Carly Wyatt added the game-winning goal in the 76
th minute.
Graduate student
Maile Lunardi (3-7-1) finished with four saves.
The 'Jacks outshot the Vaqueros 12-to-11.
UTRGV is back in action on Saturday at 7 p.m. at Lamar. Those unable to attend the match in person can watch on the
