RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros women's soccer team fell to the defending Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Champion Seattle U Redhawks 1-0 on Monday at the UTRGV Soccer and Track & Field Complex.
Natalie Dixon scored the game-winning goal for the Redhawks (1-2-1, 1-0-1 WAC) in the 80
th minute.
The Redhawks outshot the Vaqueros (3-1-2, 0-1-1 WAC) 14-9, although the Vaqueros held the advantage in shots on goal 4-2.
Junior
Emily Zapata attempted a match-high four shots, including one on goal.
Sophomore
Maile Lunardi (3-1-2) made one save.
Madison Waguespack (0-2-1) made four saves for the Redhawks.
UTRGV is back in action on Thursday at 6 p.m. against Chicago State at the UTRGV Soccer and Track & Field Complex. A limited number of seats are available as UTRGV Athletics is capping capacity at the UTRGV Soccer and Track & Field Complex at 150 fans.
