BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. – Senior
Gina Steiner scored two goals to lead The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros women's soccer team to a 3-1 victory over the Chicago State University Cougars in the regular season finale on Friday at Seat Geek Stadium.
This result, coupled with Grand Canyon's 2-0 victory at New Mexico State, means the Vaqueros (10-6-2, 7-6-1 WAC) enter the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Tournament as the No. 4 seed.
The Vaqueros open the WAC Tournament, hosted by Grand Canyon, on Tuesday at 5 p.m. against No. 5 seed New Mexico State.

This was Steiner's second-career multi-goal game and first on the road after previously scoring twice against New Mexico State on Oct. 28, 2017.
Steiner opened the scoring in the 12
th minute on assists by freshman
Mari Liis Lillemae and junior
Emily Zapata.
Steiner then completed the scoring in the 79
th minute off a feed by sophomore
Anna Torslov.
Steiner now has five goals this season.
In-between,
Barbara Castellanos tied the match at 1 for the Cougars (0-16, 0-14 WAC) off a pass from
Gisselle Sahagun.
Lillemae scored the game-winning goal in the 54
th minute. Lillemae now has two goals this season, both of which have been game-winners.
The Vaqueros outshot the Cougars 29-7, including 15-4 on goal.
Junior
Maile Lunardi (9-5-2) made three saves.
Stella Chiara Chiaradia (0-16-0) finished with 12 saves.
