NACOGDOCHES – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros women's soccer team was defeated 2-0 by the Stephen F. Austin (SFA) Ladyjacks in a Western Athletic Conference (WAC) road match Sunday at the SFA Soccer Field.
UTRGV (2-11-3, 0-6-3 WAC) freshman keeper
Emma Lööv made six saves. SFA (5-10-1, 4-5-0 WAC) got goals from
Jamie Jezierski and
Lily Hargrove, and goalie
Lydia Sattler made one save. SFA outshot UTRGV 18-4 and 8-1 with shots on goal.
The Vaqueros got some looks on offense thanks to the play of redshirt junior midfielder
Cami Dade, sophomore defender
Sydney Hammond and sophomore forward
Amy Hislop. UTRGV put a shot on goal early, but it was saved by Sattler.
Lööv made a pair of big saves in a four-minute span midway through the first half. She snatched a header attempt out of the air and made a diving save to stop a promising SFA passing attack. Sophomore defender

Rosey Bjorgvinsdottir were among the Vaqueros helping Lööv keep SFA off the board for most of the first half.
The Ladyjacks opened up a 2-0 lead by closing the first half and opening the second half strong. Jezierski scored in the 44
th minute, then Hargrove extended the advantage in the 50
th minute.
Lööv came up with a few more saves after the score to keep the match within reach. Dade, sophomore defender

Ana Recarte-Pacheco led a solid Vaqueros effort as the match went on, but UTRGV was unable to find a goal.
The Vaqueros return to the UTRGV Soccer and Track & Field Complex for a WAC match Thursday against Abilene Christian at 6:30 p.m.
