RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros baseball team opens the 2022 season with a three-game series against the George Washington (GW) University Colonials on Friday at 7 p.m., Saturday at 1 p.m. and Sunday at 11 a.m. at UTRGV Baseball Stadium.
Opening Night Promotions
•UTRGV baseball celebrates the start of the 2022 season with a postgame fireworks show, presented by the City of Edinburg. Fireworks will also be shot off after the national anthem.
•UTRGV and legacy institution alumni are invited to come to a mixer starting at 5 p.m. featuring music by Ricky J and Desert Bloom.
•The 1971 College World Series team will be honored on the field prior to the game
•The 2022 Hall of Fame and Hall of Honor induction class will throw out ceremonial first pitches.
•Cane's Challenge – If the Vaqueros win, all fans in the ballpark will receive coupons for buy one, get one free box combos at Raising Cane's on their way out.
Current UTRGV students get free admission with their student IDs.
