The Vaqueros (7-3) trailed 4-1 entering the bottom of the sixth but started the inning by putting two on with nobody out.
Nathan Ball (0-1) came in out of the bullpen and graduate student
DeAndre' Shelton greeted him with an RBI-single. Sophomore PSJA alum
Jacob Sanchez followed with a pinch hit three-run home run to give the Vaqueros a 5-4 lead.
Sanchez has now pinch hit twice this season, hitting a home run each time.
The Vaqueros weren't done in that inning, though, as they loaded the bases with one out to set up an RBI-groundout graduate student
Bryan Sturges and a pinch hit two-run single by freshman
Steven Lancia to make the score 8-4.
That made a winner of junior
Colten Davis (2-0), who struck out six in a career-high 7.0 innings, allowing four hits without a walk.
Davis retired the first 11 batters he faced. Then, after allowing a solo home run to
Braeden O'Shaughnessy in the fourth, Davis responded by retiring the next five batters.
With one out in the sixth, though, the Penguins (2-7) loaded the bases with one out. O'Shaughnessy hit a chopper to short. The throw to second sailed wide as two runs scored.
Padraig O'Shaughnessy followed with a sacrifice fly to make the score 4-1.
The Vaqueros initially scored with two outs in the first as Sturges as laced a double down the right field line to score junior
Brandon Pimentel.
