RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Men's Basketball Head Coach
Matt Figger announced on Monday the signing of 5-10 guard
Jaylen Washington for the 2024-25 season.
A three-star commit, Washington is ranked as the No. 1 point guard and No. 19 overall player in Texas and the No. 32 point guard in the nation by 247 Sports. He is currently playing his senior season at Dynamic Prep in Irving.
Last season, as a junior, Washington led Lake Highlands High School in Dallas to the 6A State Championship and a 34-3 record by averaging 16.5 points and 6 assists per game. For his efforts, Washington earned All-District 7-6A honors.
"Jaylen is a true point guard, very talented, and considered to be the top point guard in Texas," Figger said. "He is quick, strong, and a good passer that gets the ball to people in areas to be better. We are very delighted to have Jaylen with us."
Washington joins 6-6 guard
Nathaniel Law as part of the 2024-25 signing class.
