LA JOLLA, Calif. – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros men's tennis team was defeated 5-2 on Sunday by the Nevada Wolfpack at UC San Diego's Northview Tennis Courts. 
 
Nevada picked up wins on the second and third doubles courts to claim the early 1-0 lead. Junior Emilien Burnel and sophomore Borna Devald won their fourth consecutive doubles match, earning another solid win in the No. 1 flight in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (7-5). 
 
The Wolfpack secured the match victory with singles wins on the fourth, fifth and sixth courts by Youssef Kadiri, Satchel Benn and Loris Zisswiller, respectively.
 
Sophomore Karlo Krolo and Burnel both picked up wins in the first sets of their respective matches. Krolo captured a solid 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) victory in the No. 3 flight, taking control of the tiebreaker early and fighting off a comeback attempt from his opponent late in the frame. Burnel's No. 1 match went to a 10-point tiebreaker as he won the first 6-2 and dropped the second 5-7. Burnel also took early control of his tiebreaker to secure his 10-5 win. 
 
Devald competed well in his No. 2 match, but was defeated 7-5, 6-4 by Pedro Liborio. 
 
UTRGV (5-11) will be back in action Tuesday at 2 p.m. (CT) to face Hope International in Fullerton, Calif.
