IRVINE, Calif. – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros men's tennis team fell to the UC Irvine Anteaters, 6-1, Thursday at the Anteater Tennis Stadium. 
 
UTRGV (5-12) jumped out to a 1-0 lead after doubles. The No. 1 duo of junior Emilien Burnel and sophomore Borna Devald captured their fifth win in a row in dominant fashion, 6-0. Sophomores Karlo Krolo and Sam Whitehead clinched the doubles point with a good 6-4 win in the No. 2 flight. 
 
UC Irvine, the reigning Big West Tournament Champions, secured the match victory with singles wins by Rithvik Krishna at No. 4, Enrique Luque Rico at No. 1, Thomas Smart at No. 5 and Noah Zamora at No. 2. A win on the sixth court extended the lead to 5-1. 
 
Krolo battled well in his No. 3 match against Brandon Park. He pushed the first set before falling 7-5, then went back-and-forth with Park in the second before Park claimed a 6-4 win. 
 
UTRGV's next match is set for 10 a.m. April 1 at No. 42 Baylor.
