RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros baseball team scored five runs in the sixth and junior

The Vaqueros (15-12, 6-6 WAC) led 3-2 entering the sixth. In the top of the inning, though, the Texans (14-11, 1-6 WAC) scored six runs on a bases-loaded walk by
Dylan Kurahashi-Choy Foo, a two-run double by
Mason Hammonds, and a 3-run home runs by
Jaime Perez.
In the bottom of the inning, the Vaqueros opened with three-straight hits, including a single by graduate student
Brandon Pimentel, a double by senior

Montclair Cain. Junior PSJA alum
Jacob Sanchez hit a sacrifice fly. Then, after graduate student Vela alum
RJ Ochoa walked, sophomore
Steven Lancia launched a 3-run home run, his second of the season, to tie the game at 8. Lancia's home run traveled an estimated 378 feet with an exit velocity of 98 miles per hour.
That was it until the ninth, when York got a middle-in fastball on a 2-1 pitch from
Zane Badmaev (0-1) and launched his first-career home run to left to end the game. The home run traveled an estimated 390.5 feet with an exit velocity of 99 miles per hour.
That made a winner of junior

Down 1-0 in the first, Pimentel launched his second home run in as many games, his fifth of the season and a 2-run shot, to give the Vaqueros the lead. Pimentel's home run is estimated to have traveled 379 feet with an exit velocity of 100 miles per hour.
The Vaqueros loaded the bases in the third to setup a Pimentel sacrifice fly to make the score 3-1.
Pimentel finished 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored.
The Texans got on the board against graduate student
Colten Davis in the first on a two-out double by
Cris Enriquez.
The Texans added a run in the fourth on an
Alec Williams RBI-single.
