RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The Western Athletic Conference (WAC) announced on Friday that five additional linear television broadcasts, including the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) men's basketball game against UT Arlington on Feb. 17 at 6:30 p.m. at the UTRGV Fieldhouse, will be carried on regional sports network (RSN) affiliates during the second half of the 2023-24 conference basketball schedule.
 
All five games, including the UTRGV contest, will be available regionally on Space City Home Network, which has a footprint including Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Eastern New Mexico, and on Cox Cable Regional Sports in Arizona and California. Games will also be streamed live on ESPN+ and WAC International.
 
This game is one of two UTRGV men's basketball home games on television this year, along with this Saturday's 6:30 p.m. contest against Tarleton State at the UTRGV Fieldhouse, which will be carried in Spanish by Vallevisión Channel 8 (XHAB) with pregame coverage starting at 6 p.m.
 
In total, four WAC men's basketball and one women's basketball game have been added to the RSN schedule for linear broadcast within regional media markets, including California Baptist at Stephen F. Austin on Jan. 27 at 2 p.m., Tarleton State at Abilene Christian on Feb. 1 at 7 p.m., and Southern Utah at Utah Tech on Feb. 8 at 8 p.m. on the men's side, and a key WAC women's showdown pitting Grand Canyon at defending conference tournament champion Southern Utah on Feb. 10 at 3 p.m.
 
"As we continue to strengthen the profile of our league, creating increased exposure opportunities is one of our major strategic objectives," WAC Commissioner Brian Thornton said. "The ever-changing media landscape provides us with multiple mediums including linear, regional and streaming to showcase our institutions nationally during the stretch run of the conference season on the road to WACVegas."
 
The additional RSN broadcasts bolster what has been a robust linear television schedule highlighting WAC basketball teams during the 2023-24 season. The WAC linear slate included two non-conference games and two upcoming conference matchups on ESPNU, two non-conference contests on CBS Sports Network and nine games that were carried on linear affiliates of peer conference television networks during the regular season.
