RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced on Monday that graduate student
Kade Hackerott, of the women's basketball team, is the Killers Golf UTRGV Student-Athlete of the Week.
In their season-opener, Hackerott led the Vaqueros to a 70-68 win over the Houston Cougars, their first win over a power conference opponent since 2003.
In the win over Houston, Hackerott scored a game-high 20 points and a team-high six rebounds while also recording five assists. She shot 56% from the floor and 75% from three.
On Saturday, Hackerott once again led all scorers with a season-high 24 points, grabbed a team-high six rebounds, recorded three assists, and three steals in the Vaqueros 74-69 loss to the UTSA Roadrunners.
The Vaqueros will continue their road trip this week in a matchup with Oral Roberts on Monday at 7 p.m. and take on South Florida on Saturday at 1 p.m.
