RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley's (UTRGV) #6 women's tennis team fell, 4-0, to the #3 UT Arlington (UTA) Mavericks in the first round of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Tournament at the HEB Tennis Center at Pendleton Park in Harlingen.
The Vaqueros (10-12) dropped the doubles point after UTA picked up wins on the first and second courts. The Mavericks took the first set on courts two through six, but junior
Marjorie Souza took a 6-3 win.
Graduate student
Isabelle Bahr showed her resilience to take a 5-0 lead in the second set, fighting back to battle through long rallies. Her match went unfinished as the Mavericks clinched the victory with straight-set wins on the fifth, third and sixth courts.
