TULSA, Okla. – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros men's soccer team fell 6-0 to the Oral Roberts University (ORU) Golden Eagles on Saturday at Case Soccer Complex.
The Golden Eagles (3-2-3) took advantage of their opportunities as they converted on all five of their shots on goal. ORU got the scoring started in the ninth minute on Benjamin Morgan's first goal of the season.
ORU got goals in the 35
th minute and 40
th minute to take a 3-0 lead into half time. The Golden Eagles added a goal on a penalty kick in the 52
nd minute, a goal from Baptiste Boit in the 61
st minute, and a goal from Omar Mora in the 81
stminute to cap the scoring.
The Vaqueros (2-3-1) had their opportunities throughout the match as they took 10 shots with four on goal, but Golden Eagles goalie Joao Mesquita made all four shaves to keep a clean sheet.
Sophomore
Keaviano Francis led the Vaqueros with five shots on the night with three on goal.
The Vaqueros will be back in action on Sept. 29 when they visit Washburne Soccer and Track Stadium to face SMU at 7 p.m.
