RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics will officially open the new atrium and Lew Hill Memorial Plaza at the UTRGV Fieldhouse on Wednesday at 10 a.m., celebrating the completion of the updates to the UTRGV Fieldhouse.

Media are invited to attend the ceremony and are advised to arrive by 9:45 a.m.

UTRGV Vice President and Director of Athletics Chasse Conque, UTRGV Men's Basketball Head Coach Kahil Fennell, UTRGV Women's Basketball Head Coach Lane Lord, UTRGV Volleyball Head Coach Todd Lowery, Lew Hill's widow, Renee Hill, and former Hall of Fame men's basketball coach Lon Kruger will talk about the opening of the facility and the unveiling of the Lew Hill Memorial Plaza.

Small group interviews and opportunities to tour the facility will be available at the conclusion of the ceremony.

The new atrium will include a new entrance for fans attending basketball and volleyball games with a new box office, team store, concession stand, Hall of Fame area, and restrooms. 

Fans will have the opportunity to enjoy a new, unique way to watch the games from the baseline club.

This construction is part of over $180 million in construction, renovations, and enhancements affecting all UTRGV sport programs across 13 capital projects.
