HOUSTON – Another big road test awaits The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros volleyball team Saturday as the Vaqueros take their three-match winning streak to Sharp Gym to face the Houston Christian (HCU) Huskies.
The Huskies are unbeaten in Southland Conference (SLC) play so far, holding a 10-8 overall record and a 5-0 mark in conference play. The Vaqueros (9-7, 4-1 SLC) come in with good energy after earning their third sweep in a row Thursday at Incarnate Word. UTRGV has now earned all four of its conference wins in 3-0 fashion.

• UTRGV is 9-15 all-time against Houston Christian in a series dating back to 1988.
• The Vaqueros swept the season series in 2024, winning 3-1 in Houston and 3-0 in Edinburg.

• UTRGV faced another unbeaten conference squad on the road on Thursday and handed Incarnate Word its first SLC loss with a solid 3-0 (25-20, 25-19, 25-20) effort. Junior outside hitter
Nadine Zech recorded her third double-double with 15 kills on .382 hitting, 15 digs and two blocks. Freshman outside hitter
Dimitra Nanouhad 14 kills on .324 hitting with seven digs while junior middle blocker
Aaliyah Snead added nine kills on .667 hitting. Junior setter
Isabella Costantini ran an efficient offense, dishing out 39 assists with nine digs, four assisted blocks and two kills while having UTRGV hitting .306. Junior libero
Celianiz Cabranes had a match-high 16 digs, four assists and two aces. Cabranes anchored a scrappy and active defense that kept rallies alive and held UIW to .183 hitting.
• The Huskies bounced back from a first set loss to defeat Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 3-1 (21-25, 25-17, 25-20, 26-24) at home on Thursday.
Allana Archie led the offense with 17 kills while
Peyton Fadal recorded 51 assists.
Bianca Byerly had 16 digs and two aces. The Huskies recorded eight blocks.
