RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros volleyball team is looking to carry the momentum from Thursday's sweep and stay hot as they face the East Texas A&M (ETAMU) Lions Saturday at 12 p.m. at the UTRGV Fieldhouse.
The Vaqueros (7-7, 2-1 Southland Conference) and Lions (3-11, 1-2 SLC) are even against each other all-time, but the Vaqueros have the edge after defeating ETAMU twice last season.
Head-to-Head History
• UTRGV is 3-3 all-time against East Texas A&M in a series dating back to 1987.
• Last year's SLC contests were the first between these programs in 23 years. UTRGV won both, taking the first 3-0 in Edinburg and the rematch 3-1 in Commerce. The Vaqueros have won the last three matches in the series.
• The Lions last defeated UTRGV in Oct. 1999, a 3-2 match in Edinburg.
Last Time Out
• UTRGV dominated Thursday, using a sharp offensive attack and a season-best .438 hitting percentage to roll to a 3-0 (25-12, 25-17, 25-12) win over the Lady Demons. Senior right side

Isabella Costantini had 34 assists and a career-high tying five aces. The Vaqueros held Northwestern State to .077 hitting. Cipriani's performance put her in the program record books. Her .769 hitting percentage is the fourth-highest single match clip in UTRGV history.
• The Lions went on the road and defeated Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 3-1, on Thursday for their first conference win of the season. After dropping the first set, ETAMU took the next three behind a strong finish to earn the program's first ever win over A&M-Corpus Christi.
