UTRGV Athletics Announces Temporary Changes to Baseball Stadium Parking

RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced on Thursday temporary changes to parking at UTRGV Baseball Stadium due to the ongoing construction of West Vaqueros Drive, a street running from Sugar Rd. past the north side of UTRGV Baseball Stadium that will service the baseball stadium, Vaqueros Performance Center, and Athletics Pavilion.

During the 8-game homestand running from March 14-23, lot E33, which is northeast of the baseball stadium beyond right-center field, will be closed.

Fans looking to access the corrals are recommended to park in lot E31, which is in-between Elizabeth St. and N. Robert St. on the north side of Schunior St. Corral ticket holders will be able to drive up the center field gate to unload their supplies before parking and then walking back to the gate.

This closure will not affect the designated tailgating area located beyond the right field wall southwest of lot E33.

Fans who normally park in lot E33 when the main parking lot (E32) becomes full are encouraged to park in either lot E31 or lot E9, the latter of which is south of Schunior, across the street from the main baseball stadium lot.

The construction is part of more than $160 million in facilities enhancements across 13 capital projects taking place from 2022-26 touching all athletic programs at UTRGV.

The extent of the investment in athletics facilities is occurring at a rapid and unprecedented scale for the university. Since the construction of Jody Ramsey Memorial Stadium, where the baseball team played from 1974 through 2001 before moving into UTRGV Baseball Stadium, which was built by the City of Edinburg, the only athletics-related capital project over that 50-year span was the construction of the UTRGV Soccer and Track & Field Complex, which opened in 2014.
