LAKE CHARLES, La. – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros women's basketball team opens its run at the Southland Conference (SLC) Basketball Championships Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Legacy Center in Lake Charles.
The #6 Vaqueros (16-15, 11-9 SLC) will face the #7 Nicholls Colonels (16-13, 9-11 SLC) in the first round of the tournament. These teams split the season series, with Nicholls earning a win in Edinburg and UTRGV picking up a road win in Thibodaux, Louisiana. Both games were decided by less than 10 points.
A win Monday would make head coach
Lane Lord the winningest coach in program history.
Fans unable to attend the game can watch domestically via
ESPN+ or internationally on
Southland International.
