Five Baseball Student-Athletes Earn Academic All-District Honors

RIO GRANDE VALLEY – Five baseball student-athletes at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV), including graduate student Angelo Cabral, seniors Steven Lancia and Jacob Limas, junior Hank Warren, and sophomore Easton Moomau, are part of the Academic All-District® baseball team, as announced by College Sports Communicators on Tuesday, recognizing the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
 
This is Lancia's third Academic All-District® honor (2023, 2024) and the second for Warren (2024) and Cabral (2023).
 
To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his current institution. The cumulative grade-point average may not be rounded up to 3.50. Nominees in graduate school must have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or above both as an undergraduate and in graduate school.
 
Nominated student-athletes must have participated in at least 90% of the institution's games OR started in at least 66%of the institution's games. Pitchers must have at least 17 appearances or 25 innings pitched.
 
Cabral completed his online instructional design graduate certificate last month after previously earning a Master of Business Administration (marketing specialization) in the summer of 2024 and a Bachelor of Multidisciplinary Studies (minors in business administration, management and criminal Justice) in May 2023.
 
Lancia graduated in May with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with a concentration in recreational sports management.
 
Limas graduated in May with a Bachelor of Multidisciplinary Studies that included minors in communication, kinesiology, and psychology.
 
Warren and Moomau are both majoring in exercise science. Warren has a concentration in occupational therapy.
