RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced on Friday that the men's soccer team will kick off their 2025 season on Aug. 27 on the road at the University of Central Florida.
  
Prior to the start of the regular season, the Vaqueros will host three exhibition matches in the Rio Grande Valley as they will face Coastal Bend College on Aug. 15 at 1 p.m. at UTRGV Soccer and Track & Field Complex, St. Mary's on August 19 at 6:30 p.m. at the UTRGV Soccer and Track & Field Complex, and Texas A&M International on Agu. 23 at 4 p.m. at Brownsville Veterans High School. 
 
Admission to the exhibition matches and to all home soccer matches this season are complimentary.  
  
After the match at Central Florida the Vaqueros will visit Jacksonville on Aug. 31 before hosting Oral Roberts in the home opener on Sep. 4 at 6:30 p.m.
 
"The schedule is going to be very demanding," UTRGV head coach Bryheem Hancock said. "They are all quality matches against teams from all over the United States that are going to be top teams in their leagues, which is a great challenge for this group. We'll go on the road for a large portion of the season as it will give the guys an opportunity as student-athletes to see different parts of the United States and different environments. I am excited for the challenges ahead. I am excited for these student-athletes to not just become a team but to become a family over the course of the season as we build toward 2026 when we will be part of the Ohio Valley Conference."
 
UTRGV will then visit Incarnate Word on Sep. 12 before coming home for a two-match homestand when they host Houston Christian on Sep. 17 and Lindenwood on Sep. 19 with both matches kicking off at 6:30 p.m.
 
The Vaqueros will then visit Texas A&M International on Sep. 25 before heading to Phoenix to face Grand Canyon on Sep. 30. 
 
UTRGV will also visit SMU on Oct. 7, Omaha, on Oct. 14, Stetson on Oct. 28 and close out the regular season at Oregon State on Nov. 5. 
 
The NCAA Tournament will start on November 20 at regional sites and wraps up with the College Cup from December 12-15 at CPKC Stadium in Kanas City, Mo.
