RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced the promotional schedule for the 2025 Vaqueros volleyball season on Monday.
The fun begins with an Orange Out for the home opener on Sept. 4 at 6:30 p.m. as the Vaqueros host Texas State in the Southwest Showdown. Fans are encouraged to wear orange to show their UTRGV spirit, and there will be a Most Spirited Contest, sponsored by Vaquero Outfitters. The Southwest Showdown continues Friday as the Vaqueros face UTEP at 6:30 p.m. on Hawaiian Night, and fans are encouraged to dress in their best island-themed outfits.
Three additional matches will feature giveaways throughout the season and there will be two other costume contests, both sponsored by Vaquero Outfitters. The Oct. 16 match against Southeastern at 6:30 p.m. will be Dads and Daughters Night. Dads and daughters are encouraged to come dressed alike to participate in the Twinning Contest and there will be "Girl Dad" buttons as a free giveaway. The Oct. 16 match also has a 2 for $10 ticket bundle.
UTRGV will face New Orleans on Oct. 18 at 12 p.m. on Support Women in Sports Day. The first 500 fans will receive free "Support Women in Sports" t-shirts. This season's South Texas Showdown match, presented by Rally Credit Union, will be Oct. 30 at 6:30 p.m. against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. The first 400 fans will receive free Beat Corpus t-shirts. The Oct. 30 match will also be Kills & Thrills themed, and fans are encouraged to come in their best costume to compete in the costume contest sponsored by Vaquero Outfitters.
