HARRISONBURG, Va. – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros volleyball team is wrapping up the non-conference slate this weekend at James Madison's Erie Insurance Invitational at the Convocation Center.
UTRGV (3-5) opens the tournament with a 5 p.m. match Friday against the James Madison Dukes (4-5). The match will be streamed domestically on ESPN+. Saturday, the Vaqueros will face the William & Mary Tribe (4-4) at 3 p.m. UTRGV caps the tournament Sunday at 10 a.m. against the Delaware State Hornets (4-7).
Head-to-Head History
• This will be UTRGV's first match against James Madison.
• This will be UTRGV's first match against William & Mary.
• UTRGV is 1-0 all-time against Delaware State. The lone match between these squads was played on Aug. 29, 2009 in Huntsville, Texas. UTRGV earned a 3-1 win.
Last Time Out
• UTRGV went 2-1 at the Geri Polvino Invitational. The Vaqueros had their first two-match day on Sept. 12 and split the doubleheader, defeating Northern Kentucky 3-0 before falling to Eastern Kentucky, 3-0. UTRGV closed the weekend with a 3-0 sweep of Akron.
• James Madison went 2-1 at the Marquette Invitational. The Dukes defeated Milwaukee, 3-1, and fell to Marquette, 3-0. In their last match, the Dukes picked up a 3-2 win over Ball State.
• William & Mary went 1-2 at its own Tribe Invitational. The Tribe fell 3-1 to East Carolina before picking up a 3-0 win over Norfolk State. In their last match, William & Mary lost, 3-1, to Liberty.
• Delaware State went 0-3 at the Red Storm Invitational. The Hornets were defeated 3-0 by Tennessee, 3-1 by St. John's, and 3-0 by West Virginia.
