RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros women's basketball team is riding a four-game winning streak into a key early Southland Conference (SLC) matchup against the McNeese Cowgirls Saturday at 2 p.m. at the UTRGV Fieldhouse.
The Vaqueros (9-8, 6-2 SLC) are one of four teams currently tied for second in the conference standings. McNeese (13-4, 7-1 SLC), a team receiving votes in the Collegeinsider.com Women's Mid Major Top 25, sits alone atop the conference standings. UTRGV has won four in a row against McNeese.
The women's game kicks off a doubleheader with the men's teams from both schools set to play at 4:30 p.m. It's Dads & Daughters Day during the women's game, so dads and their daughters are invited to compete in a Twinning With Dad contest sponsored by Vaquero Outfitters. Dads and daughters can get two tickets for $10. Saturday is also Girl Scout Day and Strategic Enrollment Day. Participating Girl Scouts will get their patches during the women's basketball game. There will be free food for UTRGV students, while supplies last, in between both games.
Fans can purchase tickets at
