CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros women's basketball team is chasing its fourth consecutive win in the South Texas Showdown, presented by Rally Credit Union, as it visits the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (AMCC) Islanders Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Hilliard Center.
The Vaqueros (9-9, 6-3 Southland Conference) are looking to bounce back after a loss to first-place McNeese which snapped a four-game winning streak. UTRGV has been solid on the road this season, holding a 4-3 record with three conference road wins. The Islanders (3-13, 2-7 SLC) have not defeated UTRGV since 2023.
