FORT WORTH – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros men's tennis program wrapped up their run at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Texas Regional Saturday at TCU's Baynard H. Friedman Tennis Center.

Junior Aleksander Hudjec, fifth year Ivo Isqueiro, and senior Santiago Serrano were the Vaqueros in action today, competing in the singles consolation draw.

Serrano battled in a grueling three-set match against Rice's Zoey Do. Serrano took a back-and-forth first set, 7-5, before Do responded with an identical 7-5 win in the second set. The deciding tiebreaker followed the same formula as the first two sets with Serrano and Do battling to the final point. Do pulled away late to earn a 10-8 tiebreaker win.

Isqueiro took on Thomas Van Den Dooren from Texas Tech (TTU) in the consolation draw. Isqueiro and Van Den Dooren played a tight first set with Van Den Dooren pulling away in a 6-4 victory. Van Den Dooren used his momentum to secure a 6-2 win in the second set and seal the victory. Meanwhile, Hudjec went down 4-1 in the first set to SMU's Petar Teodorovic before retiring in the match.

The Vaqueros will turn its focus to the Rice Invitational, which will run from Oct. 16-18 in Houston as their final tune-up prior to the Southland Conference Fall Championships.
