RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) announced on Tuesday that sophomore Conrad Knight of The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros men's soccer team is the OVC Goalkeeper of the Week.

Knight played 180 minutes in goal this week, tallying seven saves en route to a draw against HCU and shutout victory over Western Illinois (WIU).

Knight helped UTRGV earn four points in the OVC standings, rising to sixth with one weekend left to play. The top six teams at the end of the regular season will advance to the OVC Men's Soccer Tournament.

On Wednesday against HCU, Knight made four saves, including a crucial penalty-kick stop, to help UTRGV earn a 2-2 draw.

Then, on Saturday against WIU, Knight recorded his third shutout of the season, facing 10 shots and tallying three saves in UTRGV's 1-0 victory. The 10 shots were the most he faced in any of his three shutout performances this season.

Knight previously pitched shutouts against South Florida on Sept. 6 and Lindenwood on Sept. 26. Knight is tied for second in the OVC with three shutouts this season.

The Vaqueros will return to the pitch on Thursday in their home finale against UIW at 6:30 p.m. at UTRGV Soccer and Track & Field Complex. All matches at the UTRGV Soccer and Track & Field Complex are free and open to the public.
