LAKE CHARLES, La. – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros women's basketball team is aiming to continue its solid play on the road to get back in the win column as it faces the first-place McNeese Cowgirls Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in a Southland Conference (SLC) game at Townsley Law Arena, the home of the SLC Basketball Championships.
The Vaqueros (16-10, 13-4 SLC) had their program record-tying seven-game winning snapped Saturday by Stephen F. Austin but remain one game ahead of the Ladyjacks and Lamar in second place in the conference standings. McNeese (22-4, 16-1 SLC) holds the top spot in the conference standings and has won 15 games in a row. They are ranked 16th in the Mid Major Madness poll and 25th in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25. UTRGV has won eight consecutive road contests and holds a stellar 9-3 record away from UTRGV Fieldhouse.
