RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The Southland Conference announced on Monday that junior designated hitter and PSJA alum Julius Ramirez of The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros baseball team earned Southland Conference Hitter of the Week honorable mention.
 
Ramirez hit .357/.474/.643 in four games, going 5-for-14 with a home run, a double, four walks, five RBI and five runs scored.
 
Ramirez opened the week by going 1-for-4 with two walks, two RBI, and a run scored vs. Texas Tech on Tuesday. He went 1-for-4 with a 3-run home run, Friday at Houston. Ramirez then went 1-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored in Saturday's win at Houston. Ramirez capped the week by going a career-best 3-for-5 with a double, two RBI, and two runs scored in Sunday's win at Houston.
