LAKE CHARLES, La. – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros women's basketball team, the #4 seed for the Southland Conference (SLC) Basketball Championships, is set to battle the #1 McNeese Cowgirls for a spot in the championship game Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Towsnley Law Arena in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
The Vaqueros (20-12) are riding a three-game winning streak into their third battle with regular season champion McNeese (27-4). The Cowgirls haven't played in eight days but have won 20 consecutive games. All four teams to reach the semifinals have won 20 or more games this season, which hasn't happened in the SLC tournament since 1993-94.
