CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros women's basketball team opens its run in the 2026 Women's National Invitational Tournament (WNIT) Thursday at 6 p.m. against the Austin Peay Governors at F&M Bank Arena. 

This is UTRGV's (20-13) fifth trip to the postseason and second appearance in the WNIT. This is Austin Peay's (19-13) first appearance in the WNIT ever and first postseason appearance since 2022. These teams have never played each other before but come into this first-round matchup expecting a tight contest. The winner of Thursday's game will advance to the second round and play at Illinois State on Sunday at 2 p.m.
