LAKE CHARLES, La. – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros women's basketball team, the #4 seed for the Southland Conference (SLC) Basketball Championships, is opening its run at the tournament Tuesday at 11 a.m. against the #5 Northwestern State Lady Demons at the Towsnley Law Arena in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
The Vaqueros (19-12) earned a first-round bye while the Lady Demons (18-13) had to defeat #8 East Texas A&M Monday to reach the quarterfinals round of the tournament. Regular season champion #1 McNeese is waiting in the semifinals for the winner of Tuesday's first quarterfinal contest.
