RIO GRANDE VALLEY – Five baseball student-athletes at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV), including graduate student
Colton Vercoe, senior
Hank Warren, juniors
Rocco Garza Gongora and
Easton Moomau, and sophomore
Harrison Thayer are part of the Academic All-District
® baseball team, as announced by College Sports Communicators on Tuesday, recognizing the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
This is Warren's third Academic All-District
® honor (2024, 2025) and the second for Moomau (2025).
To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his current institution. The cumulative grade-point average may not be rounded up to 3.50. Nominees in graduate school must have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or above both as an undergraduate and in graduate school.
Nominated student-athletes must have participated in at least 90% of the institution's games OR started in at least 66% of the institution's games. Pitchers must have at least 17 appearances or 35 innings pitched.
Vercoe is currently working toward a Master of Science in Human Resource Management.
Warren graduated in May with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and is set to begin attending the UTRGV School of Podiatric Medicine in the fall.
Garza Gongora is majoring in finance.
Moomau is majoring in exercise science.
Thayer is majoring in kinesiology.
