RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) swimming & diving program unveiled the complete 2026-27 schedule Monday, featuring two home meets this season at the City of Pharr-PSJA Natatorium.
UTRGV will host their annual Pentathlon Sept. 25 and Orange and Gray Intrasquad Meet on Sept. 26, prior to the beginning of the regular season. UTRGV will host one regular season event at home against Bowling Green on Nov. 6-7. UTRGV faced Bowling Green on the road last season for the first time in program history.
"We are looking forward to our third year!", UTRGV Head Women's Swimming & Diving Coach
Betsy Graham said. "We have cultivated some teams so that we can have a strong schedule, at home or on the road, and we look forward to hosting Bowling Green this year for our senior weekend."
The Vaqueros will open the season on the road as they face Rice in Houston from Oct. 9-10.
UTRGV will head to New Mexico to face the Lobos and the Aggies from Oct. 16 and 17, respectively.
The Vaqueros come back home to face Bowling Green from Nov. 6-7 at the City of Pharr-PSJA Natatorium.
UTRGV will split up for a pair of invites as the divers compete at the NAU Diving Invite in Flagstaff, Ariz. from Nov. 19-21. Meanwhile, the swimmers head to San Antonio to race at the UIW Invite from Nov. 20-22.
The Vaqueros finish their fall with a trip to Ferry Pass to face West Florida on Dec. 16.
UTRGV will open the spring portion of their schedule in California to compete against Pepperdine on Jan. 9.
The Vaqueros will wrap up their regular season when they visit North Texas to face the Mean Green from Jan. 22-23.
UTRGV will travel to the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Championships which will run from Feb.17-21. The swimmer will compete at Utah Tech, and the divers will compete at a location that will be announced at a later date.
"Fast swimming breeds fast swimming, so I am always looking to challenge us to be better. The teams that we will compete against this year will do just that," Graham said. "We have a freshman class coming in that will give us more depth in our events and I am really excited for the divers as we have added 2 divers that can dive all three events. It will be nice to see some tower diving in our program."
The Vaqueros will look to hit qualifying standards for select postseason meets including the NCAA Zone "D" Diving Championships which will run from March 8-10 in Austin, Texas, the CSCAA National Invite which will go from March 10-13 in Ocala, Fla., and the NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships which is scheduled for March 17-20 in Austin, Texas.
