RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) men's tennis program announced their 2026 fall schedule Wednesday.
 
"I am very excited about the fall," UTRGV Head Men's Tennis Coach Nathan Robinson said. "We have a great core returning from last year's program and four hungry newcomers who are eager to earn their spot. This fall will challenge us and allow us to continue to improve our game styles and help us identify doubles teams against great competition!"
 
The Vaqueros will open the fall season with the Islander Open hosted by Texas A&M-Corpus Christi from Sept. 11-13.
 
Then, UTRGV's top players will compete against some of the best players across the state of Texas at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Texas Regional, hosted by TCU in Fort Worth, Texas, from Oct. 8-12.
 
The Vaqueros will then compete in one last tune-up at the Rice's Ralph O'Connor Invitational in Houston from Oct. 16-18 before traveling to McNeese for the Southland Conference (SLC) Fall Championships from Oct. 22-25.
 
The SLC Fall Championship was created in 2024 as a response to the NCAA's two-year pilot program to host the men's and women's individual tennis championships in the fall seasons. The Division I Men's and Women's Tennis Oversight Committee approved holding the men's and women's singles and doubles championships in the fall on a permanent basis in April.
 
All automatic qualifier-eligible Div. I conferences may hold a conference tournament to determine one singles player and one doubles team from each gender to advance to the 2026 ITA Conference Masters Championship.
 
From there, four singles players and three doubles teams from the masters tournament will qualify for the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships, respectively.
 
Select Vaqueros will compete at the International Tennis Federation M25 tournament in Harlingen to round out the fall season from Nov. 1-8 at the Harlingen Country Club and H-E-B Tennis Center.
