RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) swimming & diving team wrapped up its Orange & Gray Intrasquad Meet Saturday at the City of Pharr-PSJA Natatorium, with Gray earning a 99-81 victory over Orange.

The intrasquad meet provided the Vaqueros with an opportunity to compete in a meet-style environment while giving the coaching staff another look at potential lineups and head-to-head matchups heading into the 2026-27 season.

Gray opened the competition with a win in the 200-yard medley relay, as sophomores Sasapin Sarawas and Jaydy Jay, junior Ida Rudelius, and freshman Eirini Natsiou combined for a time of 1:52.04. 

Orange's junior Annaleagh Stahl, freshmen Louise Deroide and Ellie Bailey, and sophomore Dia Henderson finished second in 1:53.46.

Jay was one of the top performers for Gray, earning victories in both the 200-yard individual medley and 500-yard freestyle. She clocked in 2:19.70 in the 200 IM before posting a 5:41.29 in the 500 free.

Gray also picked up wins from junior Madiana Lofgren in the 200 free at 2:08.51, Natsiou in the 100 butterfly at 1:01.51, and Sarawas in the 100 backstroke at 1:00.30.

Orange was led by Henderson, who won the 50 free in 25.13 and the 100 free in 54.29. Henderson's performance was part of a strong showing for Orange's sprint group.

Stahl added a pair of runner-up finishes, placing second in the 200 IM at 2:19.73 and the 100 backstroke at 1:05.34.

Deroide gave Orange another individual victory in the 100 breaststroke, finishing in 1:09.40.

The meet also featured the 400-yard freestyle relay, with Gray's relay team of junior Ida Rudelius, Sarawas, freshman Gabriella Ruiz and Lofgren finishing in 3:55.19.

The diving competition featured a strong performance from Gray's junior Manou Meulebeek, who finished first with 265.35 points.

Orange's freshmen Kiyana Perez placed second with 246.75, while Gray's Madelaine Bailey finished third with 224.55.

The diving results continued an encouraging week for the Vaqueros. Diving Coach Jennifer Mangum said Meulebeek competed a new dive during Thursday's practice and showed consistency, while freshmen Perez and Bailey each displayed promising elements in their dives.

"Manou was very steady, even competed a brand new dive, and did it fairly well," Mangum said. "The two freshman divers that competed, Kiyana and Maddie, both had some really good things about their list."

Mangum also praised Perez for showing "some amazing entries" as the freshman continues to develop early in her collegiate career.

Head Coach Betsy Graham said she is excited to see how the team can compete this season.

"It gives me a good idea of where we're starting from and what we need to continue building upon," Graham said.

Stahl said the weekend also provided a valuable opportunity for the team to see where it stands early in the season, while praising the team's freshmen for their work and ability to fit into the team dynamic.

"We had really good freshmen come in," Stahl said. "They definitely put in the work. You could see they fit the team dynamic really, really well."
