Texas Rio Grande Valley Athletics

Located on the northeast side of campus, the UTRGV Fieldhouse is the home of the volleyball and men’s and women’s basketball programs and currently has seating for 2,700.

The UTRGV Fieldhouse is currently undergoing major renovations, including a new practice gym for the basketball and volleyball teams that is expected to be complete in the summer of 2024. Additionally, a new 15,000-square foot atrium/entrance plaza is being built on the east side that will include:

• The Lew Hill Memorial Plaza;
• a new lobby including a Hall of Fame and Hall of Honor area;
• team store;
• concessions;
• public restrooms;
• and a new, unique way to watch games via the baseline club.

 
UTRGV completed internal upgrades to the fieldhouse in the fall of 2023, including a redesigned court, new ribbon and video boards, new seating, and new walls.  Check out the renovations as well as the history of the fieldhouse, which opened in 1969, in the video below:



The UTRGV Fieldhouse also includes Schlotzsky’s Vaquero Village, a pregame fan experience launched in 2019 with areas that can be rented out and catered as a group experience and enjoyed by all fans. Schlotzsky’s Vaquero Village includes lounge furniture, cocktail tables, a custom inflatable, picnic tables, and a bar run by  Chartwells serving all patrons of legal age with proper identification.

The UTRGV Fieldhouse is part of Health and Physical Education Building 1, which is 73,387 square feet and also contains the majority of the athletic department’s office space, a weight room, practice gym, and locker rooms.
