Welcome to the official UTRGV Women's Basketball Camps website. At UTRGV, we are committed to serving the entire Rio Grande Valley by hosting camps and clinics across the Valley. We offer a variety of camps for players of all ages and ability level. All campers will have the opportunity to advance their game under the instruction of UTRGV Women's Basketball Head Coach Lane Lord and his staff.

Kids Camp: June 15; July 20
The kids camp is designed for all children entering grades 1-5 of all skill levels who want to build a strong foundation in basketball. Participants will develop essential fundamentals in dribbling, shooting, passing, defense, and footwork through engaging drills and hands-on instruction from our student-athletes and coaches.

Middle School Camp: June 16; July 21
The middle school camp is designed for girls entering grades 5-8 of all skill levels who want to build a strong foundation in basketball. Participants will develop essential fundamentals in dribbling, shooting, passing, defense, and footwork through engaging drills and hands-on instruction from our student-athletes and coaches.

Cost: $60

High School Elite Camp: June 18; July 22
The high school elite camp is designed for girls entering grades 8-12 of an advanced skill level who want to build a strong foundation in basketball. Participants will develop essential fundamentals in dribbling, shooting, passing, defense, and footwork through engaging drills and hands-on instruction from our student-athletes and coaches.

UTRGV Fieldhouse

Located on the northeast side of campus, the UTRGV Fieldhouse is the home of the volleyball and men’s and women’s basketball programs. Built in 1969, the UTRGV Fieldhouse currently has seating for 2,700.

UTRGV Fieldhouse is set to undergo major renovations, including a new practice gym for the basketball and volleyball teams. Additionally, the fieldhouse itself, the university’s largest multi-purpose facility that houses basketball, volleyball, and campus and community events, will be renovated to now include:

  • a new 15,000-square foot entrance plaza/atrium, including the Lew Hill Memorial Plaza;
  • a new lobby including a Hall of Fame and Hall of Honor area;
  • team store;
  • concessions;
  • public restrooms;
  • a new, unique way to watch games;
  • new ribbon and video boards;
  • and new seating.
On Dec. 3, 2019, UTRGV Athletics celebrated the completion of $1.5 million of renovations to the UTRGV Fieldhouse and the launch of Vaquero Village, a pregame fan experience.
 
Renovations included new men's and women's basketball, volleyball, visiting team and officials' locker rooms and team rooms, new hallways leading to the locker room areas, a new athletic training room, a new media room, a new equipment room, a redesigned Sam Williams Court, new baskets, new scoreboards, new scorer's and media tables with LED boards, and new entry doors.
 
The court has mostly recently been refinished during the summers of 2023 and 2019.

UTRGV Athletics continuously upgrades the facility, including the addition of a new sound system in 2017, and the installation of new lighting in 2018.
 
The UTRGV Fieldhouse is part of Health and Physical Education Building 1, which is 58,387 square feet and also contains the majority of the athletic department’s office space, a weight room, and locker rooms.
