The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros men’s soccer team hired Ryan McDougall, who spent the last eight years as an assistant coach at West Virginia Wesleyan College, as an assistant coach on Septembrer 1.
 
During his time at West Virginia Wesleyan, McDougall served as the head goalkeeper coach and helped lead the team to five playoff appearances, including an MEC championship and an appearance in the Division II NCAA Tournament in 2017.
  
McDougall was a member of West Virginia Wesleyan men’s soccer team from 2008-12, where helped his team to an NCAA Division II Elite Eight appearance in 2010. During that season, McDougall played in all 24 matches while recording 12 shutouts and giving up less than a goal per match on his way to First Team All-Conference honors.
 
McDougall added another First Team All-Conference selection in 2011 before wrapping up his career with 50 career matches, 30 wins, 22 shutouts, 177 saves, and an 0.85 goals against average. 
  
McDougall has experience working with goalkeepers at different levels. He has been the U9-U17 girls goalkeeper coach for the Olympic Development Program in West Virginia since 2015. McDougall also has worked with goalkeepers at the Indiana men’s soccer camp since 2015 and worked the Gavin Donaldson Edge Camp since 2013. 
 
McDougall graduated from West Virginia Wesleyan in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.
