Shayne Allen joined the department as an athletic trainer during the spring of 2016.
Allen comes from Stephen F. Austin (SFA), where he completed a Master of Science in Athletic Training while working with the men’s and women’s basketball, softball, volleyball and track & field teams, in addition to a local high school as part of a clinical rotation.
Prior to SFA, Allen spent the previous two years with the San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League as an athletic trainer and assistant equipment manager.
Allen earned his Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science/Kinesiology from Texas A&M University San Antonio. While earning that degree, Allen participated in an internship with a physical therapy/sports medicine clinic. He assisted the owner of the clinic at one of the high schools, covering football, basketball, baseball, and softball. Allen continued to volunteer at the high school the year after he completed his internship.
