Nico Bodden

Bodden joined UTRGV Athletics in July 2024 as a Graduate Student Strength & Conditioning Coach. On June 1, 2026, Bodden was elevated to the position of Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach.

Bodden has designed and implemented training programs for over 60 student athletes across five programs, which included overseeing the men’s soccer, women’s soccer, and men’s tennis programs.
 
Prior to joining UTRGV Athletics, Bodden spent time with the University of Texas, assisting with their football and olympic sports programs. In the spring of 2023, he assisted with the training, conditioning, mobility, and recovery programs for women’s rowing, cheer & pom, and men’s swimming. In the fall, Bodden interned with the football program, helping primarily with the performance of student-athletes, contributing to enhancing speed, strength, and power programming. Bodden helped the team win a big 12 championship and a berth into the 2023 College Football Playoff.  
 
Alongside his professional experience, Bodden has also received multiple certifications, which includes the USA Weightlifting Level 1 Coach Certification, Titleist Performance Institute Certified Level 2 Fitness & Level 2 Power and being named a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
 
Bodden, a Brownsville native, earned his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Texas in May 2021 before earning his Master of Science in Exercise and Sports Science from Texas State in 2023. Bodden is currently working towards his Master of Science in Sports Management from UTRGV.
