LaNiece Brown joined UTRGV Athletics as an assistant athletic trainer on July 5, 2022.
Brown comes to UTRGV from Rowan University, where she spent five years and completed her Master of Science in Athletic Training. While a student, Brown gained significant experience in athletic training, working with Hillside High School in 2021-22, Rowan football and track & field in the spring of 2021, Eastern Regional High School in the fall of 2020, Rowan baseball in the spring of 2020, and Rowan football and field hockey in the summer and fall of 2019.
Brown also worked at La’Fit Lifestyle as a personal trainer from 2019-22, a personal trainer with Rowan Campus Recreation from 2019-21, and a summer intern with the New York Jets in 2020.
Brown began conducting research into blood flow restriction and electrical stimulation in treating symptoms of delayed onset muscle soreness in March 2021 and published her work in November 2022.She also previously conducted a study on the relationship between the use of hormonal contraception and ligamentous knee injuries in female athletes.
Brown carries certifications from the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) Board of Certification, SALT Mass Casualty Triage Training, and the American Red Cross in CPR/AED & First Aid for Professional Rescuers.
