Kelsey Carleton

Kelsey Carleton joined UTRGV Athletics as an assistant athletic trainer during the spring of 2018.
 
In her current role, Carleton works primarily with volleyball, women’s basketball and men’s tennis.
 
Carleton came to UTRGV from Fort Scott Community College, where she worked as the Head Athletic Trainer from August 2016 through March 2018. She provided all of the medical coverage for football, men’s and women’s basketball, volleyball, softball, baseball and rodeo, while also supervising a team of athletic trainers and student trainers.
 
A 2016 graduate of Western Illinois with a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training, Carleton first started working with student-athletes as a student trainer from January 2011 through May 2016. She assisted in the coverage of Western Illinois football, baseball, women’s basketball, women’s soccer and track & field. She also help cover wrestling, boys and girls basketball, baseball, softball and track & field at a local high school in the spring of 2015.
 
Carleton service as an athletic training student mentor during her final two years at Western Illinois and was also an athletic training lab assistant during her final year and a half.
 
During the summer of 2016, Carleton worked as an athletic training intern with Memorial Hospital SportsCare, assisting with the medical coverage of local high school teams, the Springfield Sliders summer collegiate baseball team, and the Junior Blues Hockey team. She also shadowed and assisted physical therapists in rehabilitation treatments at the clinic.
 
Carleton is certified in CPR/AED PR by the American Heart Association and is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association.
 
She currently resides in Edinburg.
