Andrew Padron returned to UTRGV Athletics as the Academic Success Advisor on April 5, 2021 before transitioning into a student athlete advisor role for women's basketball and vollyball in March of 2022. Padron was previously at UTRGV as a pitcher on the baseball team from 2014-17.

Padron came to UTRGV from Rice, where he was an account executive from January 2020 through March 2021. There he focused on selling season, group and premium tickets. He also led multiple academic conferences and tours connected between Rice academia and athletics.

In four seasons at UTRGV, Padron went 4-7 with 10 saves and a 4.90 ERA. In 108.1 innings across 73 games (three starts), he allowed 113 hits and 40 walks while striking out 67. As a senior in 2017, Padron appeared in 16 games (one start), striking out 15 in 21.0 innings with a 3.86 ERA while hold opponents to a .218 batting average.

Padron racked up the academic honors during his four years, earning Dean’s List honors three times, AD Honor Roll distinction three times and Academic All-WAC recognition three times.Â

Padron graduate in May 2017 with a Bachelor of Liberal Arts in Political Science and minors in Communication and Legal Studies.Â

The summer after graduating, Padron was a Legal Assistant Intern with the Law Office of Savannah Gonzalez.

He then worked with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers and Toros as an account executive in 2018 before serving as an assistant coach and assistant event coordinator for Twelve Baseball Academy in 2019. At the latter, Padron generated more than $70,000 in donations.

During the summer of 2019, Padron worked as a graduate assistant coach with the Brazos Valley Bombers of the Texas Collegiate League.

Padron earned his Master of Science in Sports Management from Texas A&M in December 2019. Padron is currently working toward a Master of Education in Clinical Health Counseling at Lamar.

Originally from McAllen, Padron played at Nikki Rowe High School, earning RGV West-All Star honors, All-Valley Second Team as a pitcher, and District 31-5A First Team honors as a pitcher and second team honors as a third baseman while starting his senior season on the preseason top five players watch list and as an Under Armour Pre-Season All-American. As a junior and sophomore, Padron earned District 30-5A First Team honors as a pitcher. He was also the District 30-5A Newcomer of the Year as a freshman. Padron set the school record with 15 strikeouts in a seven inning game. His career-best was 18 strikeouts in a Pony regional game in Austin, part of a 5-0 run in Perfect Game Tournaments. Padron earned multi-media certification from South Texas College as a senior. He was honored as a Texas Prep Scholar, Texas Scholar, member of the Distinguished Achievement Program, member of National Honor Society and the class parliamentarian for student council.
