Ryan Garcia joined UTRGV Athletics as Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Communications in Sept. 2026. He currently serves as the primary media contact for the men's and women's golf, track & field/cross country, volleyball, and women's basketball programs.

He brings over six years of experience working in intercollegiate athletic communications to the department, including the last five years at Keiser University in Florida.
 
While at Keiser, Garcia earned two promotions in three years, rising to the role of sports information director at Keiser in January 2024. In this role, Garcia was tasked with training and supervising gameday staff and directing the live stats operations for over 12 varsity programs. In addition, Garcia published over 200 articles annually, spanning from recaps to feature stories to special publications. Garcia also oversaw six staff members which included three graduate assistants.

In his previous three years at Keiser, Garcia helped promote Keiser Athletics, drawing local media to the university to produce stories highlighting student-athletes and the overall success of the department. He oversaw eight varsity programs, managed social media content, inputted statistics, facilitated on-site athletic communications responsibilities on gamedays and maintained historical records.
 
Garcia has experience covering championship programs, as he oversaw the communication and promotion of seven national championship teams and 99 individual national champions. He also saw 28 teams reach NAIA National Championship Tournaments across the department during his five years at Keiser.

I’m looking forward to becoming part of the culture, building relationships, and contributing to telling the stories of the student-athletes, coaches, and programs that make UTRGV Athletics special.”
 
Prior to joining Keiser, Garcia worked as the sports information director at ASA College. In this role, he published stories, managed rosters, and handled the stats for all eleven men’s and women’s NJCAA programs. He also reinstated broadcasting and live stats for home athletic events.
 
Garcia also gained additional experience working as a member of the stats teams for the Miami Heat, University of Miami, and Florida International University. He worked across multiple sports including baseball, basketball, football, soccer, and volleyball.
 
Garcia earned his Bachelor of Science in Sport Management with a minor in Business Administration from Xavier University in 2017.
