Mike McCarthy

Former Broncs catcher Mike McCarthy returned to the Broncs as a volunteer assistant coach on Aug. 26, 2014.

His on-field responsibilities will include coaching first base, working with the catchers and the defense as a whole.
 
Off the field, McCarthy will help to coordinate team travel in addition to other duties as assigned.
  
During his three years at UTPA from 2010-12, McCarthy hit .320 with 26 doubles, four triples, five home runs, 86 RBI and 88 runs scored in 147 games (134 starts). He had his best offensive year as a junior, hitting .377 with 12 doubles, two triples, one home run, 45 RBI and 29 runs scored in 53 games (51 starts).
 
McCarthy earned his Bachelor of Arts at UTPA in December of 2012. He is currently working towards a master’s degree.
