UTPA Entertains A Strong St. Edward's Team Sunday

EDINBURG - St. Edward's University brings a strong soccer team, riding an 8-5 season record, against the University of Texas-Pan American Broncs at 2 p.m. Sunday.

Coach Mike Smith's Hilltoppers from Austin trail nationally ranked Incarnate Word College, No. 9 in the NAIA, by half-game in the Heart O'Texas Conference. St. Ed's is 5-2 and IWC 5-1.

The Sun Belt Conference doesn't compete in a pre-tournament conference schedule. UTPA stands 2-5-1, not counting the 5-4 victory that Coach Eloy Moran's Broncs scored over Monterrey Tech in an international exhibition Oct. 9.

Admission will be $1 at the UTPA campus soccer field.

This marks the last home competition scheduled for the Broncs before they are hosts to the Sun Belt Conference Championship on Nov. 4-6. Moran hopes to add another home game next weekend.

The Broncs finish their pre-tournament schedule at SMU Oct. 29.
