UTPA refused to
throw in the white towel. In the eighth inning, with one out, Ortiz hit

both had two hits and scored two runs. Alamia extended his reaching base
safely streak to 44 games. Justin Bogy (Sr./West Columbia, Texas/West
Columbia HS) gave up nine hits, five runs, walked two batters and struck out
four as he fell to 3-2.
For DBU,
Montgomery was 3-for-5, scored two runs and drove in two runs, Magness

Broadway gave up nine hits, three runs, walked one batter and struck out
five in six and one-third innings to move to 5-1. Wayne Dowling pitched
one-third of an inning for his second save.
"It was the
same old story today." Said head coach Willie Gawlik. "We just can't
seem to get out of the first inning without giving up a bunch of runs.
Phillip Rodriguez (Fr./Edinburg, Texas/Edinburg North HS) did a decent job
giving up no hits and striking out one. We just didn't get the clutch hit
today. Twice we had the bases loaded with one out and hit into a double play."
